We visited lots of art and craft booths, the old theater where Dan Emmett and others performed, and heard some of the entertainers, but Dana most enjoyed the small Civil War engagement “reenactment” from the town square and down the street as the Union soldiers chased the Rebs out of town. The musket volleys were loud, though! Afterwards, Dana got interested in the Union soldier statue on a tall column with plaques in the park on the square and the “Walk of Honor” bricks in honor of those who served and died in many wars and actions. So we got in some spur-of-the-moment history. We left before the big stage show because Dana can’t handle the loudness of the speakers.
